Varedo (Monza e Brianza), May 9, 2025 – The dress rehearsals were already done last year and the success paid off, so much so that also this year Milano Scultura, the Italian fair dedicated to sculpture directed by Ilaria Centola, for its ninth edition, moves once again to the splendor of Villa Bagatti Valsecchi. Thus it happens that galleries, artists, special projects, installations, meetings and performances, which speak the language of the most current contemporary sculpture, confront the halls, rooms and park of the eclectic residence, environments full of history and a beauty that survives the offenses of time.

The exhibition

Around thirty galleries, selected by the director and curator Valerio Dehò, which bring the medium of sculpture back to the center of attention, of the public and professionals, through works ranging from marble to bronze, from ceramics to recycled materials. A formal heterogeneity that is also found in the variety of dimensions , with works ranging from small formats to environmental installations, from decorative objects to public art, to present the infinite declinations of the sculptural language. A long weekend therefore dedicated entirely to sculpture, which will start this evening , May 9th at 6 pm with the inauguration. As for the 2024 edition, the event maintains its peculiarity: being both a fair and an exhibition project enjoyable by an audience of collectors and enthusiasts.

Interiors and landscapes

Without a stand , but conceived as a single large exhibition that puts the works in dialogue with each other and these with the space, Milano Scultura finds a strong point in the relationship with the Varese headquarters: "In fact, the spirit of sculpture is to live not in absolute but in continuous relationship with the spaces, the environment, the architecture. In this Villa Bagatti Valsecchi offers various scenarios and various possibilities, the variety of the interior spaces, the landscape perspectives, the different architectural structures, require an ever-different conjugation of the works", explains Valerio Dehò.

Two special projects

"The aim is to offer a wide audience a carefully selected overview of what the medium of sculpture is able to offer today", comments Ilaria Centola. To do so, alongside the exhibition projects presented by the galleries, the event promotes meetings, performances and two special projects: " Afthonia ", an anthological exhibition dedicated to Matteo Lo Greco that displays fifteen sculptures, from the 1980s to the most recent, and the focus on the work of Henri Beaufour that focuses on the techniques he usually uses and how these relate to his baroque expressionism.
