Exhibitions in Capri: Female Visions and Sacred Blue

by Marco Milano
Visions of the Feminine with the Mel Bonis Duo opened The Prism's "Sacred Blue" exhibition at the Centro Caprense Ignazio Cerio in Capri. The concert "Visions of the Feminine" by the Mel Bonis Duo, composed of pianists Vera Lizzio and Chiara Nocchiero, featured a program of works composed entirely by women. The event featured performances of works by Cecile Chaminade, Amy Beach, Marie Jaell, Mel Bonis, and Fanny Mendelssohn, composers who lived between the 19th and 20th centuries, celebrating the talent of extraordinary female composers who distinguished themselves in an era when music was dominated by men. A tribute to women in music, performed by two pianists who, not coincidentally, chose to dedicate their stage name to Mel Bonis, the pseudonym of Mélanie-Hélène Bonis, the first female member of the Société des compositeurs de musique in early 20th-century France. A four-hand piano concert, organized in collaboration with the Franco Michele Napolitano Foundation and under the patronage of both municipalities on the island, followed by the opening of the exhibition "Sacred Blue," a solo show by artist The Prism, curated by Marco Senaldi. An immersive experience, each work becomes a channel of spiritual energy. The Prism's works "are strongly influenced by shamanic tradition, where art is not only observed, but transforms the viewer's inner self. The use of blue, in particular," the presentation states, "recalls the cosmic energy of the island of Capri, which The Prism explores, leading the viewer to discover a universal connection and full self-awareness." The title of the exhibition (on view until September 4th) also pays homage to the island's ancestral history, symbolically linked to "cosmic caves," such as the Grotta delle Felci, famous for its prehistoric artifacts discovered by Ignazio Cerio, the museum's founder. Blue, a color that, according to theosophist Rudolf Steiner, acts as a powerful psychological stimulus, The Prism invites the public to explore universal connections and profound shifts in consciousness. In addition to the work "Fire Elements Sacred Blue," which inspired the exhibition's title, the show features a series of works with a strong spiritual undertone, from "Cosmos Cave of Creation" to "Soul Connector" in a lightbox, to the three Dibond Thought Forms, "Life Journey," and "I Am." The exhibition's title also pays homage to the island's ancestral history, symbolically linked to "cosmic caves," such as the Grotta delle Felci, famous for its prehistoric artifacts discovered by Ignazio Cerio, the museum's founder. Furthermore, the island's blue is celebrated as its energetic essence, capable of evoking an experience of profound spiritual transformation. The Prism exhibition at the Cerio Museum, a hub for local, national, and international culture, is part of the vibrant cultural landscape that characterizes the island of Capri, further enriching its artistic offering. It unfolds alongside a major exhibition divided into two distinct sections, Project Oneness and Trust, Gratitude and Love Journey, currently underway at the Bassam Freiha Art Foundation in Abu Dhabi and extended until September 14, 2025 due to its success. Sacred Blue is an exhibition conceived by Januaria Piromallo di Montebello, produced with the patronage of the municipalities of Capri and Anacapri and the support of the President of the Museum – Centro Caprense Ignazio Cerio, Filippo Barattolo, the Museum's director Caterina Porcaro, and AnnaChiara Della Corte for coordination.
