Empire of the Sun. Visionary rock at Carroponte.

Welcome to the world at the end of the world of Empire of the Sun. The Australian electro duo, performing tonight at Carroponte , hadn't been to any European country since before the pandemic. This was a surprise for the Milanese audience, given the visionary flair that characterizes Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore 's performances, especially in terms of costumes and sets. After rejecting any connection to J.G. Ballard's novel of the same name or Steven Spielberg's film because "the name has more to do with the connection between ancient civilizations and sun worship," Empire of the Sun say they drew visual inspiration from Alejandro Jodorowsky's film "The Holy Mountain," thus combining the repertoire of their four albums—including standouts like the opening track "Change," "Walking on a Dream," "We Are the People," and "Standing on the Shore"—with an imagery poised between psychology, spirituality, and esotericism.
