Bologna, July 24, 2025 – On the eve of the Wimbledon final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, he declared that if the Italian tennis player beat the Spaniard, he, a Bolognese chef and well-known face on MasterChef, would create a dish in his honor. The promise came from Bruno Barbieri , who proved himself to be a man of his word.
And so, on his blog, the renowned chef published the recipe for Carrot Soufflé, a Barbieri-designed dish that combines his creativity with his admiration for Sinner. And that's not all. The soufflé, whose main ingredient is carrots (the symbol of the Italian tennis player), also contains an ingredient dedicated to Carlos Alcaraz , "because," Barbieri explains, "to become King, you need great opponents."
The "King" is obviously Sinner, the most successful Italian tennis player of all time, considered one of the best athletes in Italian sport, deserving of 20 titles on the major circuit and the first and only Italian tennis player to win the Wimbledon tournament . Barbieri, who has always followed the path of the Italian tennis player, knows sacrifice, commitment, and perseverance behind every "match," whether on the court or in the kitchen. Just as he understands the value of competition, when it is played based on the principles of respect and professionalism. This is precisely the reason for the "Alcaraz" ingredient. "When you two compete," Barbieri wrote in his post addressed to the players in the Wimbledon final, "it's pure spectacle . Respect, talent, and that spark that makes the difference. A small tribute to him too, because you don't become number one alone; you grow by playing with the best." And so, healthy competition and Italian pride become the Sinner Carrot Soufflé, which is completed with a bronuise of unripe fruit and vegetables marinated in grapeseed oil and raspberry vinegar, Beluga caviar and salmon roe, tzatziki, and a shot of plant extracts. Barbieri's recipe is not without wisdom, and on his blog, alongside the list of ingredients and an explanation of the dish's preparation, he adds a message addressed to the tennis player 'King': "First of all, Jannik, look, this isn't just a recipe. It's a match played together, but in the kitchen. You know, a lot of people talk about technique, fitness, mentality. But I believe that what makes the difference is true passion . The kind you put into it, when you step onto the court with a clean, focused face, and that serious lightness of someone who knows they can do anything, but does it with moderation. With balance. And that's exactly where I started to think about this dish." All that's left to do is get cooking, prepare the soufflé, and savor the flavors, victory, and wisdom.
