Books, a journey through the churches of Naples' historic center with ACLI Beni Culturali

ACLI Cultural Heritage announces the publication of the book "Walking Through Churches in Naples. An Arbëreshë Itinerary," a guide that transforms a simple visit into a deep immersion in history and spirituality. The book offers a unique itinerary through the churches of Naples' historic center, revealing the traces left by the Arbëreshë community, the Italo-Albanians who are custodians of the Greek Catholic-Byzantine rite. It offers a new and unexpected perspective on the city's artistic and cultural heritage.
The book is the result of an idea born in 2020 with the aim of promoting Neapolitan churches that are often unknown or, in some cases, inaccessible to the public. As Professor Pasquale Gallifuoco , President of ACLI Cultural Heritage, emphasizes, the initiative was realized thanks to a collaborative and passionate effort. The collaboration between experts and students from the Caselli-De Sanctis High School and the Federico II University – Department of Architecture allowed art, faith, and identity to be brought together, offering the reader a rich and well-documented narrative.
As President Gallifuoco states: "Walking through churches in Naples is not just an artistic exploration, but a true bridge between cultures and religions. It is a tribute to a past that unites the shores of the Mediterranean and highlights the history of the Arbëreshë, a people who found refuge and integration in Naples, bringing with them an invaluable cultural wealth."
ACLI Beni Culturali, long committed to intercultural and interreligious dialogue, considers this volume a confirmation of how art and history are powerful tools for rediscovering our diverse roots. Arbëreshë culture, with its uniqueness, has helped shape Italy's multicultural identity, demonstrating that diversity is a resource, not a limitation.
The book, published by Youcanprint , costs €1.99 and can be downloaded in digital format. Every purchase is not only a gesture of culture and remembrance, but also a small, concrete contribution to solidarity.
A portion of the proceeds will go entirely toward purchasing baby formula, baby food, and other essential supplies for little ones, a way to turn knowledge into tangible help.
