'Wednesday Talk' kicks off with 'Ink and Blood: Camilleri Beyond the Page'

Created by Maddalena Santeroni, four meetings will be held starting tomorrow at the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia in Rome.

The secret is the common thread that links the four "Wednesday Talks," a series of talks hosted by the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia in Rome and conceived by Maddalena Santeroni, president of the art prize. The initiative aims to reveal what remains hidden in the folds of life, memory, and current events. The speakers include great figures in Italian culture and thought: Simona Argentieri, Paolo Di Paolo, Marco Marchetti, Arianna Mortelliti, Maddalena Santeroni, and Alessandro Sciortino.

"Hidden, concealed, recondite, mysterious, intimate, private, and sometimes clandestine: these are some of the many synonyms, with varying meanings, that define the secret: revealing it means bringing out the true essence of things, lifting the metaphorical veil that covers it," says Maddalena Santeroni. "With this intent, I created the Wednesday talks, through which we will seek, through discussion, to reveal some of the secrets that lie behind characters, themes, and news, hidden within the folds." In the first meeting tomorrow, September 10th, "D'inchiostro e di sangue - Camilleri oltre la pagina" (Ink and Blood - Camilleri Beyond the Page)—conceived to mark the centenary of the great writer's birth—his granddaughter Arianna Mortelliti, with her travel partner Paolo Di Paolo, will guide those present into the most intimate world, into the "secret" knowledge of her grandfather, between literature, family, and civic engagement.

A family bond blossoms into a literary collaboration: Arianna Mortelliti will retrace the year she spent with her grandfather, working alongside him on his final work, published posthumously. This experience intertwines personal and professional realms, offering a firsthand look at the method, discipline, and creative drive that drove the writer until his final day.
