'We woke to find rat the size of a cat gnawing on our clothes in holiday suite'

A British doctor's holiday in Sri Lanka turned into a nightmare when his girlfriend woke him up in the middle of the night, convinced there was an intruder in their room.
To his utter disgust, upon switching on the lights, he discovered not an intruder, but a rat as large as a small cat lurking in their luxury hotel room.
Kiran Morjaria, a doctor and Youtuber, shared the dreadful encounter to his 32,000 TikTok followers, sharing a tale so bone-chilling it might make you want to keep the lights on at night in future getaways.
Despite initially dismissing his girlfriend's fears, thinking she was being paranoid about insects, which she is petrified of, Kiran admitted to his followers that the reality they faced was far worse than any bug infestation.
He relayed the unsettling event: "When I was in Sri Lanka last year my girlfriend is terrified of insects and that sort of thing. She got me up and said 'I can hear something' in the middle of the night. I said 'You are just imagining it - there is nothing here.'", reports the Mirror.
But soon enough, his girlfriend's insistence paid off. Kiran described the chilling moment he realised she had been right all along: "About ten minutes later she gets me up again and says 'I can definitely hear something in the room so I get up and turn the light on.'".
Then came the jaw-dropping discovery of the colossal rodent that had stealthily shared their room. He recalled the horror: "And there I see the biggest rat I have ever seen in my life. I'm talking literally the size of a small cat."
Kiran was left aghast when he discovered a mammoth rat "nibbling on our clothes inside the room."
He then invited his followers to divulge their own chilling encounters, leading to a cascade of gruesome tales in the comments section.
One recounted an excruciatingly embarrassing moment caused by her child's nappy disaster at a swimming pool, explaining: "We had the entire swimming pool closed off as our new-born baby pooped in his swim nappy and its was explosive upset tummy we was very embarrassed."
Euan's anecdote involved a tense situation at Nantes airport where his T-shirt tested positive for explosives due to playing with cap guns the previous day, recounting: "At Nantes airport my T-shirt got swabbed for explosives multiple times and came back and cause I was playing with cap guns the day before."
Katy's holiday took a harrowing turn right after leaving JFK airport, surviving a near-fatal taxi accident, she revealed: "Leaving JFK airport for Manhattan, Taxi speeding, 60mph head on collision, Police said we're lucky not going home in a body bag, taken to Queens Hosp!".
Another commenter empathised with Kiran's rodent ordeal, admitting they would have been petrified, saying: "Arrrrrhhh (not even scared of rats normally but I'd have screamed and not slept."
