Singer Rod Stewart's Glastonbury performance sent viewers into a frenzy just minutes into his set. The rocker, 80, took to the Pyramid Stage's legends slot on the final day at Worthy Farm, charming the audience with his timeless classics, and even dropping an F-bomb during his set. Accompanied by his band and several guest singers, he wowed festival-goers, making a lively come-back despite recent challenges. Before his Glastonbury gig, Rod had to cancel several US shows in early June due to flu recovery. He has also voiced plans to shift away from "large-scale world tours" after 2025, favouring smaller, intimate gigs instead.

But on Sunday June 19, Sir Rod sang his heart out to thousands – a sight that didn't escape those tuning in from home. One impressed viewer remarked on X: "Massive crowd for Rod fair play", while another observed: "Bigger turnout for Rod than Neil Young last night." Another admirer praised: "All those eyes on Rod. He looks fabulous for his age.", reports Liverpool Echo. Another added: "He deserves that crowd after all these years."

The 'Maggie May' legend joined an iconic roster, including James Brown, Diana Ross, and Shania Twain, all of whom have graced the tea-time slot at the world-renowned festival. With anticipations fulfilled, Sir Rod hit the Glastonbury stage with gusto, something he eagerly anticipated since his last appearance in 2002.

In a chat with Radio Times, he expressed his excitement: "I'm really looking forward to it. And it is a different gig, it's like when you're playing a cup final you're trying to treat it like another game. But, of course, it's not. It's special. It'll be glamorous, it'll be sexy.

"And we've got a little orchestra coming on to play with us. And we may have some bagpipes." The singer has already let slip that his former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood will be joining him on stage.

Sir Rod also shared how he had to negotiate with the bosses to extend his set as he was initially only given a 75 minute slot. He revealed on the That Peter Crouch podcast: "But I've asked them 'Please, another 15 minutes' because I play for over two hours every night and it's nothing."

Last summer, Sir Rod had to call off a series of tour dates including his landmark 200th Las Vegas residency show due to health concerns

The You Wear It Well singer was distraught as he announced on Instagram that he was cancelling four dates and rescheduling another two that were due to take place over the course of the month.

He said: "So sorry, my friends. I'm devastated and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to my fans. I'll be back on stage and will see you soon."
