With the Livret A savings account rate at 1.7% since August 1st , the French are looking for alternatives to invest their savings wisely . For some car enthusiasts, the answer is obvious: buy a car aged 15 to 30 years, whose value will improve over the years. These models, common in the 90s and 2000s, rocked an entire generation and are now popular on the used car market. "Compared to a new or very recent car, the loss of capital is almost non-existent on an old car. If you put 5,000 euros into a very good model, there is a chance that at least within 3 to 5 years, you will recover your investment upon resale and that in the best case scenario, your capital will be appreciated," says François-Xavier Basse, founder of the specialist magazine Youngtimers .
