Comics and children's books: Gribouillis returns to Bordeaux with Philippe Katerine as headliner

The Espace Saint-Rémi in Bordeaux will host several exhibitions from September 6 to 28. What connects them? Perhaps a raw, naive, not-so-innocent trait. Like "Mignonisme" by singer Philippe Katerine, a media success since its resounding exhibition at Le Bon Marché in Paris. What does the multifaceted artist say about "mignonisme"? For "Sud Ouest," he explained in 2022 : "It's like a grid for reading the world. We all have something cute in us, but we shouldn't be too aware of it to truly be so. I've done things that seemed cute to me on themes that are difficult like death, anxiety, violence... but seen through the prism of cuteness." His arrival has been announced.
Also on display at Espace Saint-Rémi are original plates from the collections of Eric Losfeld, one of the first in France to publish comics for adults. These include "Barbarella" by Jean-Claude Forest, "Lone Solane" by Philippe Druillet, "Valentina" by Guido Crepax, and "Epoxy" by Paul Cuvelier and Jean Van Hamme.
From September 6 to October 25, a retrospective exhibition with 200 original drawings will be dedicated to David B and will be on display at the Mériadeck library, on the occasion of the release of his album "Monsieur Chouette".
Fifty publishing houses and bookstores, as well as 70 authors and illustrators of comics, children's books, and drawings, are expected at the festival's book fair at the Garage Moderne in Bacalan on September 12 from 2 to 8 p.m., and on the 13th and 14th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Meetings are planned, as well as book signings and workshops. The winners of the two Gribouillis Prizes , selected from among the ten most creative comics and ten children's books, will be revealed at the inauguration on the 12th.
From the cinemaDrawing is also in the cinema. Three special screenings are scheduled at Utopia. On September 10, at 10 a.m., there will be a preview (national release on October 22) of Ugo Bienvenu's first French animated film, a futuristic fable produced by Natalie Portman, already shown in a special screening at Cannes and winner of the Golden Crystal for Feature Film at the Annecy Festival. In the evening, the bill will be "Certain Women" by Kelly Richardt, a carte blanche for comic book author and illustrator Julie Delporte. At the show, she will be signing copies of her children's book "Big Ears." Finally, on September 14, at 8:15 p.m., "Princess Mononoke" by Hayao Miyazaki, an animated masterpiece from Studio Ghibli, will be screened in a restored 4K version.
