This is the worst behavior to adopt in summer, these 6 devices are at risk

Many owners of electronic devices do not pay attention to this detail which can seriously harm their lifespan.

As summer approaches, temperatures rise, but conversely, vigilance regarding our electronic devices decreases. School holidays or the desire to relax by the beach or pool often make us want to use our devices without giving them much thought. This behavior, however, proves dangerous, especially for you, but also for your smartphone, your headphones, and even your power bank.

If you're used to using your smartphone on vacation, you've probably had to take it out to check it in the sun. We're probably not telling you anything new when we say this is something you should avoid, as the sun tends to overheat your device. But did you know that this rule applies to many other gadgets and everyday objects? Here are 6 to keep away from extreme heat.

First of all, and this will come as little surprise to you, laptops hate the sun. The reasons are more or less the same as with your smartphone: PCs are equipped with processors, graphics cards, hard drives, and especially a battery that are very fragile in the face of extreme heat. Exposing them to the sun can lead to slowdowns, overheating, and even battery swelling.

Another device that's more commonly taken to the beach: the tablet. Ideal for reading by the beach, this device is very similar to smartphones in terms of components and construction (including lithium batteries). Its screen is also prone to significant degradation if you tend to expose it to direct sunlight.

Although a smartwatch is generally designed to be worn outdoors, some models also don't appreciate prolonged direct sunlight. The latter can affect their small battery and especially their screens, which can end up burning and being damaged. If you usually wear your smartwatch to the beach, try to keep it in the shade from time to time.

Unfortunately, headphones are also very fragile when exposed to high temperatures! This is especially true for wireless devices, as they have a built-in battery that can swell in the heat. Headphone materials, such as plastic or ear cushions, can also suffer from high temperatures.

If you're a gamer, this also applies to handheld gaming consoles, as these devices are equipped with heat-sensitive batteries, screens, and electronic chips. If you really want to use your Switch at the beach, try to do so in the shade and avoid placing it in direct sunlight at all costs.

Finally, and this is obvious after mentioning the previous devices, external batteries also need to be protected from the sun. If you absolutely need to use one to recharge your device during very hot weather, try to keep it in the shade in your bag. Large batteries can even end up swelling or catching fire when exposed to too much sunlight!
