Who is affected? How does it work? How much does it cost? What you need to know about the seasonal flu and Covid campaign starting in a few days

The aim is to protect people at risk of severe illness, healthcare professionals and populations in contact with vulnerable people.
The 2025-2026 flu and Covid-19 vaccination season will officially begin on Tuesday, October 14 across the country (mainland France, the Antilles, and French Guiana) and will run until January 31, 2026.
Each year, the flu affects between 2 and 6 million people in mainland France , the ARS website points out . There are an average of 9,000 deaths annually, more than 90% of which concern people aged 65 and over. Vaccination saves an average of 2,000 people in this age group each year, adds the ARS.
Who is concerned? Both vaccinations (Flu and Covid-19) are strongly recommended for:
Not only for Covid-19, vaccination also targets people with psychiatric disorders, dementia or Down syndrome.
Please note: Anyone wishing to be vaccinated against Covid-19, even outside the target populations, can receive an injection . In addition, influenza vaccination can be offered to children without comorbidities, aged 2 to 17 years inclusive.
How is it going? It is possible to receive both flu and Covid-19 injections during the same appointment! Healthcare professionals will then administer the injections in two separate areas (one arm for each vaccine, for example). Vaccinations can be administered by a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, or midwife, making access easier for everyone.
To be eligible for the Covid-19 vaccination, you must have been vaccinated for at least six months after your last infection or injection. This period is reduced to three months for immunocompromised people and those aged 80 or older.
