Fresh, colorful produce and captivating aromas... In summer, with the desire to enjoy everything that's available, your food budget can quickly skyrocket. How can you keep it afloat while still maintaining a healthy, balanced diet?
In the summer, a simple stroll through a market can quickly turn into a challenge for your wallet, between the temptations and sometimes, the prices. To avoid these pitfalls, start by maintaining your good habits for the rest of the year:
- Don't leave without a list and plan your menus . Which of course doesn't prevent you from treating yourself.
- Track promotions ;
- Aim for raw, unprocessed produce . Fresh fruit or vegetables, of course, but frozen or canned options are also a good alternative. For fish that can add up, ask for a whole fish, such as hake, which is generally cheaper.
- Consume seasonal products , in other words when they are at their peak of production. They are generally less expensive;
- Choose simple , homemade food : an excellent way to control the contents of your plate and why not reuse what has not been consumed. Like a portion of rice or vegetables that can end up in a salad for the next meal;
- Play tactically with proteins : cut-up meat and fish are often expensive. So limit portions and look for other plant-based proteins, particularly economical legumes (lentils, etc.);
