Clermont-Ferrand: after a night of violence, a charred body found in a burned-out car

A charred body was found in a burned-out car, a person was shot and injured, and a house was targeted by arson on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, August 13, in Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme) and the surrounding area, according to sources confirming Agence France-Presse. "Multiple investigations are underway regarding these events," the prosecutor's office said on Thursday, without saying whether there is a link between these events or giving details at this stage of the investigation.
According to a police source, a burned body, lying on the back seat of a vehicle found on fire, was discovered Wednesday at 5 a.m. in the Croix-de-Neyrat district, a priority area in the north of the city.
A few hours earlier, a person was shot and injured in the same neighborhood, added a source close to the case, confirming information from the regional daily La Montagne .
Knife stuck in the headA partially burned body with a knife stuck in its head was previously found in a car on May 18 in Croix-de-Neyrat. The arson attack took place around 3:20 a.m. in Pérignat-lès-Sarliève, about fifteen kilometers from Clermont-Ferrand, and five large-caliber cartridges were found at the scene, according to the police source.
A week earlier, an arson attack had already targeted the neighboring house. No casualties were reported and no gunshot wounds were discovered, the source said. No hypothesis has yet been made public, but Clermont-Ferrand has been the scene of numerous drug trafficking-related shootings since 2024.
