With the help of gestures and loud calls through megaphones, swimmers were evacuated from the water at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 18.
In fact, in Cagnes-sur-Mer, the municipality was forced to close three beaches to swimming due to "suspicion of pollution " .
Affected: those of the Port, the Port Entrance and the Church, up to the private establishment Le Carré bleu.
This Saturday, July 19 , while the holidaymakers were looking at the water like a dog in a china shop (with entry prohibited, therefore), the green flag replaced the red at 11:35 a.m.
In a message posted on the town's social networks almost simultaneously, the mayor of Cagnes-sur-Mer, Louis Nègre, indicated: "The results of the analyses carried out in connection with the suspected pollution at sea are green . The beaches closed [this Friday] as a precautionary measure, therefore reopened a few minutes ago."
The causes of the episode are not yet known.False alarm or dissipation of the marine pollution expected this Friday? We'll have to wait and see...
In his post, the mayor stated at midday: "The investigation to identify the source of this incident is still ongoing."
Reached by telephone late Friday evening, the elected official indicated that the investigations were then converging towards an incident which occurred in the Vaux valley , in the Val-Fleuri district and formally ruled out any link "with sanitation".
