What to do in Lyon this weekend? Top tips from August 1st to 3rd

Festival, comedy, dance, shooting stars, Lyon Capitale has selected for you the five activities not to be missed this first weekend of August.

To mark the annual "Night of the Stars," several galaxy-themed events will be held in the Lyon metropolitan area this weekend. In Saint-Genis-Laval, the Lyon Astronomical Society will be hosting a viewing of the moon, planets, and stars on Friday, August 1st, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The Lyon Astronomy Club will be at the Parc de la Commune de Paris in Villeurbanne on Friday, August 1st and Saturday, August 2nd, from 6 p.m. to midnight. The program includes events, lectures, telescope observations, and shooting star passages for the lucky few.

The weekend promises to be festive in Croix-Rousse. As part of the "Ta belle allure" festival, several events will punctuate the life of the Cerisaie park from Thursday, July 31 to Saturday, August 2. Open from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, then from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, the festival awaits you for concerts, shows and workshops under the banner of "ecology, inclusivity and ecofeminism."

(OUT)rage is the name of a play that tells the story of sexist microaggressions, an everyday sexism that is often accepted in society. This sexism is denounced by Jeanne Henry in her comedy, presented Friday, August 1st, at the town hall park in Lyon's 5th arrondissement. As part of the "Tout l'monde dehors" festival, the young woman will offer an immersive one-woman show based on real-life testimonies.

This is the last Friday to enjoy guided tours of the Amphitheater of the Three Gauls. On Friday, August 1st, the City's archaeological service invites you to discover the history and architecture of the site built on the slopes of Croix-Rousse in 19 AD. On Saturday, August 2, the instructors at "Rock it Lyon" invite you to participate in an evening dedicated to 4-beat rock, a four-step dance ideal for beginners. After a 45-minute introduction at 7 p.m., the bravest among you can continue the dance party until the end of the night on Place Carnot (2nd arrondissement).
