The Strasbourg Afghan Cultural Association is organizing the 27th Kite Festival on Sunday, June 22, at the Carrières farm in Val-de-Moder. In addition to celebrating the end of the school year, this celebration is also a way to perpetuate a tradition that has become an act of resistance against the Taliban.

It was founded in 1998 in Alsace, the day after the Taliban first came to power in Afghanistan. The Afghan Kite Festival is back, Sunday, June 22, starting at 11 a.m., on land provided by the Carrières farm in Pfaffenhoffen. Organized by the Cultural Association of Afghans of Strasbourg (Acas), the event is a true tradition in the country. "It's an activity that is often practiced during an Afghan New Year, which takes place at the arrival of spring," explains Zaher Divantchequi, president of Acas.
