The Olympic cauldron has made its grand return to the Tuileries Gardens. Since June 21, every evening at 10:30 p.m., the golden ball has attracted several thousand spectators. It's windy, a storm is brewing, and yet, several hundred people are gathered behind the barriers. Their eyes fixed on the Olympic cauldron, they await takeoff. Three silhouettes bustle around the giant balloon, untie it, and at 10:30 p.m., it takes flight. Silence among the crowd. Heads follow the vertical movement, faces light up. The flame reaches its highest point, to thunderous applause.
