The Subs: a creative return to school!

As part of the Dance Biennale, the Subs are hosting three performances that share a desire for transformation and a rejection of norms. Andréa Givanovitch 's Leather Better opens the season—reminiscent of Alexander Vantournhout's VanThorhout, seen in 2023. The circus artist explored masculinity and vulnerability through the figure of the god Thor by manipulating a flexible hammer, while Givanovitch (former performer of Ohad Naharin) uses a leather jacket, which he plays with to free the body from social norms through sound movements.
Belgian performer and choreographer Mercedes Dassy presents Spongebabe IN LA, a hybrid self-portrait in which she mixes songs, intimate or committed lyrics and dance moments that question her identity as a woman, her ability to reinvent herself in a world of chaos and oppression. She makes her body a political manifesto that struggles and transforms, joining the concerns of a humanity that resembles her.
A member of the Paris Opera Ballet until 2024, Simon Leborgne has set sail for new experiences and, thanks to Ad Libitum, takes us on a feverish duet with drummer Ulysse Zangs (also a dancer trained at the Paris Opera). Together or in a power struggle, they explore their limits to free movement from artistic codes and their expressive power.
On the electronic music side, among other things, Odalie will invite the public to a free evening where cello and modular synthesizer blend to create a universe full of contrasts and emotions and on Sunday September 14, children (from 6 years old) will be able to participate in the Boum PIXMIX and RISK Party and even choose, through an interactive game, to which rhythms (house, techno, trance or bass music...) they will be able to dance!
