The golden age of associations. The Trolls, half a century of passion for mining archaeology in Wegscheid

The first episode of our summer series dedicated to associations in the Thur and Doller sector, which are showing a certain age in 2025, features the mining archaeology association Les Trolls, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. A fine age for these enthusiasts of old stones, for whom medieval mines form a remarkable heritage, as well as an inexhaustible subject of study.

It's already well into the morning on this Thursday in the Soultzbach valley, high above Wegscheid. Along the sun-drenched stream, a dozen people are busy repainting the chalet that stands near the excavations bordering the entrance to the former Reichenberg mine. Paintbrushes in hand, they chat, joke, and stop for a few minutes for coffee in a friendly atmosphere that gives the place the feel of a summer camp.
