Fourteen French novels are part of the first selection of the Prix Médicis. Among them are "Kolkhoz," " Night in the Heart," and other literary powerhouses of the new literary season.

On Friday, September 12, the Médicis Prize jury selected 14 French novels in its first selection, including those by writers Nathacha Appanah, Emmanuel Carrère and Laurent Mauvignier, driving forces of the literary season.

Chaired by Pascale Roze and composed of nine members, all writers, the jury also published a list of 14 foreign novels. The Prix Médicis, renowned for its literary excellence, will be awarded on November 5, the day after the Goncourt Prize.

Second, narrowed lists are expected on October 16, as well as a first trial list.
