He was still on stage on July 5th . A final performance announced as such, as part of a charity concert in Birmingham. Unable to walk, Ozzy Osbourne had sung on a throne, for the first performance of his original band, Black Sabbath, since 2005. A grand farewell, for which a good part of the rock and metal planet had made the trip. The organizer, Tom Morello, intended to make this day "the biggest metal concert of all time." After a five-song set with his accompanists, Ozzy Osbourne was joined by his former accomplices from Black Sabbath, for four of the band's classics.
It was a few miles away that John Michael Osbourne was born on December 3, 1948, into a modest family of six children. His working-class parents had started calling the boy Ozzy from a young age. A victim of sexual abuse at the age of eleven, Osbourne had made several suicide attempts…
