Lunéville. L'Escale: a taste of Brittany in the equestrian city

Isabelle and Thierry Escribano are the hosts of "L'Escale" located at 15 rue Saint Léopold in Lunéville. Nothing predisposed this couple, originally from Brittany, to offer bed and breakfasts. Thierry, a retired soldier, finished his career with the 53rd RT in Lunéville. The couple then decided to stay and buy a property in the town. After hosting family and friends several times in their lovely home, everyone asked them why they didn't offer bed and breakfasts.
The idea took root, and after some renovations, the couple opened L'Escale, two guest rooms, three years ago. Isabelle chose this name, as well as the two rooms, Bréhuidic and Govihan, in memory of her native Brittany. In the largest room with its bathroom, the headboard is none other than the Breton flag.
This room also has a cinema theme and, thanks to its giant screen, it is possible to watch films as well as documentaries about Lunéville.
The second, smaller room has all the comforts and a shared bathroom with the hosts. Isabelle and Thierry do not serve meals, although sometimes, as a last resort, the hostess has not hesitated to make an omelet. Breakfast is superb, made with fresh, local produce and Isabelle's delicious Breton crepes. A landscaped garden with a jacuzzi is also available.
But Isabelle and Thierry wanted to do more than just rent rooms. They also wanted to share their experiences with others about Lunéville, its history, and its surrounding areas.
Thierry has done his research and offers his clients a guided tour starting from the castle through the old town. Then, to showcase the town's best restaurants, he makes reservations for his guests at the end of the tour at a restaurant of their choice. The couple also works closely with the Lunéville tourist office.
L'Escale can be reached by car or train. The owners pick up their guests at Lunéville train station. You can also arrive on two wheels. A biker stopover, L'Escale is equipped to accommodate bikers and their motorcycles.
Isabelle and Thierry are incredible hosts. They take great care of their guests, even thinking of personalizing the house gift: a mug engraved by Isabelle with the guest's first name. "We love hosting; we are enriched by each of our encounters. Some guests have become friends today."
