Kim Kardashian: "Ready to face her attackers," the star will face her robbers this Tuesday in Paris

Kim Kardashian will then make a statement in front of the cameras, her lawyers said. On Monday afternoon, outside the courtroom, her American staff could be seen checking with the police where she could go. "She is ready to confront her attackers," said her lawyer, Léonor Hennerick, who is representing her and Jonathan Mattout at the trial. "She really wanted to be here," "she felt compelled to come," added her American lawyer, Michael Rhodes, who came Monday to listen to the testimony of the receptionist forced to lead the thugs to Kim Kardashian's hotel room on the night of October 2-3, 2016.

The 44-year-old star's arrival at the historic courthouse on the Île de la Cité is likely to bring in crowds of fans and curious onlookers hoping to catch a glimpse of her, in addition to the nearly 500 accredited journalists. In the galleries leading to the courtroom, where a corridor dozens of meters long is reserved for cameras, additional barriers and checkpoints have been installed to avoid crowds as much as possible. Since the trial began on April 28, investigators and her former drivers and bodyguards have taken turns giving their versions of the events. It's now Kim Kardashian's turn to describe to the court the night that, in her words, "traumatized" her.

Around 3 a.m., five thugs disguised as police officers, arriving on foot or by bicycle, entered her discreet luxury hotel and robbed the receptionist. They then burst into the star's room, who was then in her bathrobe, ready to go to bed. Guns drawn, they demanded "the ring, the ring": her engagement ring, given to her by Kanye West - they have since separated - a diamond the size of "a square of chocolate," in the words of one investigator, valued at 3.5 million euros. After stealing a total of 9 million euros worth of jewelry - the largest theft from a private individual in France in 20 years - they tied her up, gagged her, and "dragged" her into the bathroom.

"I thought I was going to die, I was preparing myself for the moment when they were going to shoot and kill me," the star said. "Those 10 minutes really changed my whole life." The DNA of one of the ten defendants was found on the tape used to tie her up, and most of these suspects were arrested in January 2017. But the loot—smuggled in Belgium according to investigators—was never found, except for a necklace lost during their escape. Two worlds will collide in the courtroom: on one side, penniless old bandits, with an average age now around 70—the "old robbers," as the press has dubbed them.
