On June 26, 2003, footballer Marc-Vivien Foé died of a sudden heart attack in Lyon, during a match between his team and Colombia, at the age of 28.

The Cameroonian footballer began his professional career in 1994 at RC Lens, where he became French champion in 1998. In 1999, he left the club to join West Ham, and thus played in England. Marc-Vivien Foé returned to France, this time in the colors of Olympique Lyonnais, and won the French Championship for the second time in 2002. He then played for Manchester City for a year, where he scored nine goals in total.

The famous footballer also played for the national team, where he participated in two World Cups during his career: one in 1994 and one in 2002.

He competed in the 2003 Federations Cup. On June 26, during the semi-final against Colombia, Marc-Vivien Foé collapsed on the pitch at the Stade Gerland in Lyon in the 72nd minute and subsequently died of a heart attack. Many tributes have been paid to him, and his memory lives on in the hearts of fans and the football world, who have not forgotten this immensely talented player.
