Heritage: the Brittany region supports citizen initiatives

The Brittany region has implemented a unique program offering a bonus to associations that collect donations to restore their heritage. Created in 2012, this initiative has already saved nearly 200 monuments and traditional boats.
"The idea is to recognize those who do things and campaign to ensure that heritage is returned to everyone," summarizes Ronan Le Baccon, director of tourism and heritage for the Brittany region. The community has come up with a simple and effective scheme, "Skoaz ouzh skoaz" ("Shoulder to shoulder" in Breton), which consists of paying a bonus to associations collecting donations to restore their heritage.
