Final symphony of the Cannes National Orchestra this weekend in the village of Bargemon

The village of Bargemon, the "pearl" of the Haut Var, and its inhabitants of all ages shared intense moments of music and friendship this year during an exemplary partnership, which will reach its apotheosis this weekend.
This Friday, at 6:30 p.m., the Cannes National Orchestra will perform a concert entitled Espana in the André Delpui multipurpose hall, conducted by José Maria Moreno. The program includes the cello concerto by Gaspar Cassado (soloist Jérmy Genet) and El corregidor y la Molinera by Manuel de Falla. It will be followed by an aperitif and meeting offered by the municipality.
The following day, Saturday, the meeting is at 6:30 p.m., Place Chauvier, in the center of the village, for a festive stroll through the streets featuring music, dance and poetry until reaching the Place du Château where Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 8 will be performed again by Émilie Imbert and Cécile Subirana (violinists), Hans Ljuben Richard (violist) and Jérémy Genet – who had already introduced the population to Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 8.
A rare immersion in art and music
A direct immersion in art and music thanks to the ONC and the Vivant!e company, which led practical workshops throughout the year for the Bargemon residents and the 116 students of the village school. They received a visit and explanations from musicians from the orchestra and their conductor, Benjamin Lévy, around Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf . All were brought to Cannes by bus to attend a live concert around the same work, illustrated by the drawings of Paul Cox, whose life-size figurines were even transported to the Bargemon school itself. " In our village, where residents do not have immediate access to this type of culture for social reasons or distance, music has established itself as an ideal vector for unique social and intergenerational connections," emphasizes Magali Léris, deputy for cultural affairs, schools and heritage, who coordinated the action.
A success beyond all expectations
" Offering live music where it is least present, least accessible is one of our objectives and one of our essential missions. This is why we developed this idea of a sponsored village based on an idea from Sandrine Deschamps, our administrative director ," explains the general director of the ONC, Jean-Marie Blanchard. The success of this operation has been beyond all the expectations of the stakeholders. Through the concerts, workshops and meetings, close and enthusiastic links have been forged between the inhabitants of this village, the schoolchildren, the musicians and the orchestra staff."
Admission to the concerts is free, but reservations are recommended by email at [email protected].
