Culture: in the footsteps of Paul Cézanne

Paul Cézanne is making waves in Aix-en-Provence. One hundred and thirty of the painter's works are on display starting this weekend and running through October at the Granet Museum. At the same time, art lovers will be able to discover his family home, as he was born and raised in the area. Paul Cézanne spent much of his youth at the Bastide du Jas de Bouffan.
In Aix-en-Provence, the soul of painter Paul Cézanne is everywhere. On every street corner, you can see a nod to Cézanne. A native of the region, the Bastide du Jas, where he lived for forty years of his life, is open to the public to showcase his world. A house where he painted his greatest works, such as the “Sainte-Victoire.” A building that inspires art lovers. One hundred and thirty paintings from thirteen different countries are currently on display to remind us how his city shaped one of the greatest artists of modern painting.
Ninon Anger, an amateur painter, has been going here for thirty years to draw inspiration and light from Paul Cézanne : " In fact, it's so different all the time, I don't know, it's obsessive. Something super heavy, he painted it like something transparent and translucent, it's really crazy. In any case, it's something that touches me. "
