Charger, Soleil Bleu, Parisienne... Who won the title of summer hit 2025?

CHARTS - The summer period has had its share of surprises with the emergence of new artists like the Bermuda Triangle trio and the DJ duo Bleu Soleil. Le Figaro takes stock.
Summer is coming to an end, despite the holidaymakers and the little schoolchildren ready to put on their school bags. Like every year, certain pieces of music accompanied, sometimes to the point of saturation, car journeys, evenings and trips to the beach during the summer. Last June, Le Figaro drew up a list of potential hits that were supposed to make these two months of vacation a little hotter. Some of our predictions were conclusive, like DJ Snake , Gims or Benson Boone , each of whom is in a good position at the time of the verdict. Others have proven inaccurate, but "to err is human," says a famous Latin proverb. And we are "not immune to a pleasant surprise," says another...
The beautiful 2025 season was, indeed, "a good surprise." Because the title of the summer hit was played between two contenders who were unknown to the general public just a few months ago. First, Luiza and Bleu Soleil offered us Soleil Bleu , a track with festive and electropop sounds. Since its release on April 6, the trio's track, recorded in a few hours and written on the RER, has accumulated more than 25 million streams on Spotify. It occupied the top of the charts for several weeks - the weekly music ranking in France - before ranking third today. It is played on all the radio stations, like NRJ, Fun Radio , and Skyrock , which broadcast it around ten times a day.

"I came up with the lyrics without thinking it would be the hit of the summer," singer Luiza, who performs the song, also told us, congratulating herself on "making people of all ages happy."

Facing this group of emerging artists, another trio has made a place for itself at the forefront of the scene. Their style is diametrically opposed. Their audience, too. "Charge, charge, charge... brrrrrrr." On social media, the gimmick has become the summer anthem for young people under 30. Since the Fête de la Musique on June 21, Triangle des Bermudes ' track "Charger " has continued to stir up crowds. And this, regardless of the context. If you try to chant "charge" in the streets of Paris, you're sure to get a response. "Get out the guns, get out the guns," say MC YOSHI, Mauvais djo, and Kokosvoice, the three artists from Essonne, in the preamble to their catchy chorus.
Some see it as a revolutionary chant, an incitement to violence. Others see it as a catchy and fun song. For example, spectators asked rapper Kendrick Lamar's DJ to play the song before his concert at Bercy in early July. American artist Travis Scott was also spotted getting into it at a nightclub in Saint-Tropez. The Black Eyed Peas gave it a thumbs-up on Skyrock . The single has been covered by several internet users in country, 1960s, and even piano versions by Bilal Hassani. Currently, "Charger" is second in the charts in France, with no fewer than 34 million streams on Spotify since its discreet release in February 2025.

It is therefore difficult to choose a winner between Charger and Soleil Bleu as their styles differ and their paths, like their successes, are so similar. Each of these trios has experienced a meteoric rise in recent months, going from unknown status to stardom. "It's funny, it's not at all the same thing ," Antonin Parmentier told us a few weeks ago. "Charger is a UFO like Soleil Bleu ." And the second brain of the Bleu Soleil duo, Nino Faerdig, added: "There has been too much rap in the charts for a few years, it's good to have something else." And if, finally, there was not one, but two summer hits ?

There could even be three. How can we forget the essential Gims , whose productivity rate is similar to that of an artificial intelligence? After releasing one of the hits of summer 2024 with Spider , the Congolese, ex-star of Sexion d'assaut , returned in 2025 with no less than ten hits. Since May, the one who claims to be "the best rapper in France" has released Piano with Werenoi , Air Force Blanche with Jul, Call your girlfriend , Parisienne with La Mano 1.9, and Tu me rends bête with Damso . A rumor had also announced him alongside Donald Trump's daughter-in-law on a track. If we had to choose just one, Parisienne would be Gims' main hit this summer. This week, it's at the top of the charts, ahead of Bermuda Triangle, Luiza and Bleu Soleil, with nearly 10 million streams since its release on August 1 .

The recipe is often the same. But it's still just as popular, because the simple lyrics of Gims' songs easily get into your head. With his recent successes, and notably that of his album Le Nord se souviens , the rapper has just broken a record held until now by Johnny Hallyday , namely the number of weeks spent at the top of the French Top Albums (12). With urban music not being left behind, the rest of the summer hits ranking gives way to Théodora , who has become the second most listened to French-speaking artist in the country, ahead of Céline Dion and behind Aya Nakamura. The rising star of French hip-hop, nicknamed the "Boss Lady", is one of the rare singers present every week in the Spotify Top 50 with her track Fashion Designa (22 million streams), taken from her album Mega BBL . This summer, Théodora also sold out four dates at the Zénith in Paris in 2026.

We can also mention Jul with his song Toi et moi , which has become a cult hit on social media, or even Nono La Grinta with his single Paris , which has been riding high on PSG's victory in the Champions League final for three months. Pélican from L2B , but also KYKY2BONDY from Hamza and Pa Pa Paw from Damso and the singer Sarah Sey have also had resounding success this summer.

The French have been listening to a lot of foreign artists. The return of Blackpink, an all-female K-pop group , made an impact, especially after their two shows at the Stade de France in early August, in front of more than 110,000 people. Their new single JUMP is currently 25th on the charts. On Spotify, it has accumulated 181 million international streams since its release on July 11. The duo DJ Snake and Bipolar Sunshine on Paradise has also become a success with 21 million streams since mid-May.
