At 55 years old, Varois Laurens is directing his first feature film, which will be previewed in September.

It was in Marseille, in 1970, in the 8th arrondissement, that the man about to unveil his very first feature film was born. An inveterate film buff, immersed in television from childhood and passionate about music, he defines himself above all as self-taught. Although he did not pursue a course in audiovisual, he trained in computer graphics and gained a variety of experiences, notably as a cameraman on short projects and by directing a poignant documentary on apnea and cancer in 2019.
Before arriving at the production of this film, his professional life was punctuated by multiple experiences, often far removed from the world of the 7th Art: from food to commerce, including jobs as an artist or show manager. A rich, human journey, which today nourishes his artistic vision.
Illness as a triggerEverything changed in 2011. A serious illness, several heart attacks, and other medical complications abruptly confronted him with the fragility of life. This ordeal marked a turning point. In 2017, he began to write, driven by his own strength. Several screenplays emerged from this period, including the one that would lead to Peut-être un jour…
A film born from will and mutual aidThe realization of this project was not without its challenges, but it was made possible thanks to solid determination, a small personal budget, and above all, a team of loyal friends. He would like to warmly thank the municipality of Saint-Cyr, the mayor, and the deputy mayor for culture, for their support and access to the city's outdoor locations. Filming, which began in 2023, was completed in May 2025.
A symbolic firstThe film will premiere on September 6, 2025, at 8:30 p.m., at the Cinéma Éden Théâtre in La Ciotat, the oldest continuously operating cinema in the world. A place steeped in history, perfectly symbolic for a first feature film. The cinema's team, its management, and its presidency also played a valuable role in supporting the project. A story of love and destiny. Peut-être un jour… follows Romain and Mélodie, two characters who meet in 1988 on a train between Bordeaux and Marseille. The story will stretch over more than forty years, a sentimental fresco marked by choices, silences, and missed opportunities.
