A Seiko solar chronograph for the World Athletics Championships

A limited edition of the Japanese brand's Prospex Speedtimer solar chronograph pays tribute to the performances of the approximately 2,000 athletes who participate.
Since 1987, Seiko has been the official timekeeper of the World Championships in Athletics, the world's premier track and field event. In 2025, the championships return to Tokyo for the first time in 34 years. Seiko will once again deploy its timing equipment in the city where the brand was born.
To commemorate the 2025 World Athletics Championships, Seiko is unveiling a limited edition Prospex Speedtimer solar chronograph featuring an “Edo Purple” dial. A nod to Tokyo’s historic name, Edo, this shade has been chosen as the official color of the Tokyo 25 World Athletics Championships. This new watch features the highly legible dial style introduced in 1972. Its design is inspired by the flowing curves of Speedtimer chronographs from the 1960s and 1970s. The chronograph hand extends to the edge of the dial, and the date window is subtly integrated between the indexes, ensuring immediate time reading.
This 39mm watch is powered by Seiko's solar-powered caliber V192, which offers a 60-minute chronograph and a 24-hour counter, with a battery life of up to six months after a full charge, without exposure to light. The combination of brushed and mirror-polished finishes on the bracelet links is combined with the domed sapphire crystal. This limited edition of 6,000 pieces is priced at €770 from August 2025.
