"I'm very attached to the city": comedian Nash is delighted to soon be performing in Cannes with the Villa Jamel Comedy Club gang

In a few days, Nash, currently touring the provinces with her show, won't be out of place when she lands near Cannes. Because she's been coming here for three years with the Jamel Comedy Club troupe. But also because she's spent many vacations there, as she explains to us over the phone.
"I'm very attached to this town where I used to come every summer with my family. Coming back to play jokes today, I find it lovely. And then I have some pretty crazy landmarks. When I go to get an ice cream at Vilfeu, I fall back into my childhood!"
Between summer camp and work-workNash will be in Cannes from July 22nd to 25th, the entire evening of the 6th edition of the Villa Jamel Comedy Club (VJCC), held in the garden of the Villa Rothschild. Surrounded by a great group of friends, she is aware of the need to manage herself.
"During the day, you really feel like you're at camp; you laugh and have fun. But you can't let yourself get exhausted. To play outdoors in front of 1,000 people, five nights in a row, you have to be energetic."
Last year, the comedian from La Courneuve, in Seine-Saint-Denis, played the role of MC, mistress of ceremonies, during the VJCC, as she sometimes does during the shows dedicated to Jamel Debbouze's foals on Canal + ( season 14 resumed on July 2, editor's note ).
"It's gratifying to open the ball for colleagues, in a festive atmosphere. There's an added pressure, though. Because the atmosphere also depends on the MC, who has to be able to bounce back and listen to each other's passages."
Her friend Sandrine, her nose and the annual updateThis summer, the mission will fall to her friend Mahé. Nash, she'll be able to concentrate on her sketches. And no doubt "summon" Sandrine, her exuberantly crazy character, onto the stage.
"She could have a Southern girl side. Being a Sandrine is a question of attitude, of state of mind. You could say she's almost too jovial. But when you live in Paris like me, with people who are constantly sulking, that feels good too."
We can bet the thirty-year-old will also talk about her nose, an appendage that has earned her a fair amount of harsh comments on social media.
"When I released my first videos, there were these jokes that were a bit off-putting. They really made me feel bad. Then, over time, I managed to turn it into something funny, to counteract these negative reactions."
In his Cannes garden, Nash will mostly feel like he's reuniting with loved ones. "I think it'll be a good time to give an update, to tell you what's happened to me since last year. You'll have to come to find out more, but I can tell you: a lot of things have happened to me..."
"When I see the team I'm coming with, I tell you sincerely: you're not ready... We're coming with warriors," promises Nash.
In this team assembled to make the audience laugh at the 6th edition of the Villa Jamel Comedy Club, in addition to Nash, we find Adel Fugazi, Basile, Ilyes Mela, Julien Santini, Mahé, Meryem Benoua (present all five evenings), as well as Antek (on the bill on July 22, 23 and 24) and Ilyes Djadel (expected on July 25 and 26).
All of them are used to touring the French scene and are considered references in comedy clubs.
Among them are some who have also managed to stand out in the highly competitive field of social media, such as Ilyes Djadel, who has almost 740,000 followers on Instagram, and Meryem Benoua.
Appearing on our screens in a striking sequence of the show C'est mon choix , in 2017 (with a phrase: "I didn't come here to suffer, ok?" , which became a web phenomenon), the comedian now seduces with hilarious sequences of interaction with the public. From virtual to real, there is obviously a step. But these well-practiced artists will have no trouble making the switch...
