Tourism in Bogotá: More than 918,000 foreign visitors arrived in the city in the first half of 2025.

According to the first half of 2025 report presented by the Bogotá Tourism Observatory, the city welcomed more than 918,900 international visitors between January and June , according to data from Migración Colombia. This figure represents a 6.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

The main countries of origin of foreign visitors are: the United States (23.4 percent), followed by Spain (11.6 percent), Brazil (6.3 percent) , Ecuador (5.7 percent), Canada (5.2 percent), France (4.6 percent), and Peru (4 percent). The document also reveals that the main reasons for travel were: tourism (55.2 percent), transit (19.1 percent), business (7.8 percent) , crew (5.8 percent), events (2.7 percent), and residents (2.5 percent).
According to projections from the Bogotá Travelers' Survey, the city is expected to receive nearly 14.1 million tourists in 2025, which would represent an increase of 0.87 percent compared to 2024 and 14.98 percent compared to 2023.

The District Tourism Institute (IDT) asserts that this growth consolidates the city's position as Colombia's leading urban destination. And, if the trend continues, it could surpass the international tourist target by the end of 2025.
Regarding air operations, the report reveals that between January and May of this year, 71,106 flights were operated to Bogotá, with a 7.8 percent increase in international traffic , although a 4 percent drop in domestic traffic was also recorded.

Likewise, total passenger numbers decreased 0.1 percent due to a 4 percent drop in domestic traffic and a 7.8 percent increase in international traffic. Avianca accounts for approximately 50 percent of both domestic and international flights to Bogotá.
According to projections based on data from ProColombia, 275,749 air reservations to Bogotá are expected between May and October, representing 55.4 percent of total reservations to the country. Medellín and Cartagena follow with 22 percent and 13.9 percent, respectively.
The implementation of various strategies has been instrumental in consolidating the city's position in the sector. Recently, for example, Stopover Bogotá was announced, an initiative that allows international travelers on Avianca to make a stopover of up to 24 hours in the capital at no additional cost to their ticket.
Other figures- Tickets sold. In the second quarter of 2025, 109,408 international tickets to Bogotá were sold, an increase of 0.7 percent compared to the same period in 2024.
- Hotel occupancy . In May 2025, the occupancy rate was 58.7 percent, 11.4 percentage points higher than the national average.
- Tourism employment. Between March and May, the sector generated an average of 112,130 jobs per month, representing 2.6 percent of the total employed population in the city.
These results reflect the dynamism of a sector that continues to strengthen as an engine of economic development and position the city as an attractive and competitive destination.
This impact is not only positive at the national level, but also internationally. In fact, UN Tourism figures confirm that more than 300 million trips were recorded worldwide in the first quarter of 2025 , a 4.9 percent increase compared to 2024.
