Spam calls in Spain: from now on, these are the only two numbers you can trust.

As of this past Saturday, June 7, a ban on commercial calls from mobile numbers has come into effect in Spain, a measure that is part of the government's plan to combat telephone and SMS scams.
This measure, approved in February and included in Order TDF/149/2025 of the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Service, aims to address the growing problem of telephone scams in which individuals pose as legitimate entities and companies to steal victims' personal and banking data.
This law was passed on February 15, but as the government explained, it wasn't implemented until June 7. This law aims to provide some leeway for organizations or entities that continue to use mobile numbers for business calls.
This is a serious problem, since according to ministerial data , in the last two months alone, more than 14 million calls and more than 800,000 SMS messages have been blocked , and despite this, many of these "pirate calls" managed to slip through and deceive Spanish users.
The only two numbers you can trustAs we mentioned, with the entry into force of this regulation, companies will be required to always call from established customer service numbers. This means that all business numbers that call you must begin with +800 and +900, making them the only two numbers we can trust when claiming to be a company.
It's worth noting that if they call you from a specific branch, for example, from your nearest bank branch, they can use their landline number with the area code for the Spanish province they live in, for example, 955 for Seville. They can also use specially designated numbers , such as 1004 for Telefónica.
With this new measure, which will come into effect before the end of the month, the Government aims to put an end to, or at least drastically reduce, the number of people affected by spam and related scams.
