iOS 26 is a reality: Apple confirms the list of compatible iPhones; batteries, leaves out several models
Apple officially announced its latest release at the WWDC 2025 event, where it revealed new features in the version update of its iPhone operating system, which consists of the new iOS26.
The company is seeking to unify all its operating systems under a single numbering system. Therefore, it is moving from the current iOS 18 to iOS 26 at once.
However, this time, the exclusion of some iPhones will not be an exception, as they will not receive this update.

Other Apple news for consumers
Tech giant Apple announced at the conference a new "Liquid Glass" design for its software platforms, which adds transparency and glass-like gloss effects to its interfaces, as well as a wealth of artificial intelligence to its apps.
"This is our most comprehensive design update to date," noted Alan Dye, Apple's vice president of human interface, from Apple Park in Cupertino, California, who emphasized that this is the first time a universal design has been introduced across all platforms.
According to the company , 'Liquid Glass' simulates the "optical qualities of glass," similar to a magnifying glass, and is even capable of bringing "joy" to users. Apple's last design update was in 2013, with the release of iOS 7.

The redesign will be most noticeable in some apps, such as the Camera app, which will be simpler in the new update, displaying only the most frequently used modes—camera and video—and allowing users to swipe to the side to view panorama or cinematic modes, or swipe up to view additional controls, such as timers.
The bitten apple company also announced a change in the way Apple names its major operating system updates, as it will now do so using the number of the year following its introduction, similar to what it does with cars.
'It took more time,' Federighi said of the lawsuits and the new Siri update.
At last year's WWDC, one of Apple's highlights was the announcement of a smarter, more useful, and AI-enhanced version of Siri, its voice assistant.
However, this launch never materialized, a severe blow to Apple, which for years has been known for only releasing fully completed projects. This delay has even led it to face two class-action lawsuits for deceptive marketing.
On Monday, Craig Federighi, Apple's vice president of Software Engineering, said that more information about the Siri update will be available "later this year."
"We continue to work on delivering features that make Siri even more personal," said Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of Software Engineering, who emphasized that the project took more time to reach Apple's quality standards.

Updates to Apple's AI
But even so, the company once again made Apple Intelligence, its AI, the star of the first day of the developer conference, announcing new features powered by this cutting-edge technology across its ecosystem.
This is Apple's second major iOS update following the introduction of AI features. The previous version, iOS 18, introduced some basic AI features, such as tools to improve typing and the ability to integrate ChatGPT.
With the new updates, Apple's AI will be able to translate calls and messages live with subtitles or act as a personal trainer that encourages users while running, among other functions.
One of the most interesting features is that the AI will be able to answer a call from an unknown number and give the user a summary of who is calling in case they are not interested in answering , thus better filtering out calls from potential scammers.
Additionally, the company noted that it is opening up its on-device AI model to third-party app developers, meaning iOS users will be able to enjoy more Apple Intelligence features in third-party apps.
