Battery failure on Motorola cell phones: how to fix the problem

Motorola cell phone users are going through a difficult time. Their batteries are failing (less than four hours), notifications are not displayed , and apps are freezing. Some people even reported that the devices are overheating , posing a health risk.

Can it be fixed? Yes, there is a way. The company has already confirmed it's aware of the problem so it doesn't happen again.

The most reported failure is extreme overheating of the equipment, even without performing demanding tasks.

Some users claim that their cell phones reach temperatures so high that they become uncomfortable to the touch, and that this state persists for hours or even days.

At the same time, the battery is showing unusual wear : devices that used to last all day with average use now barely reach four hours of autonomy.

In Chile, mid-range Motorola cell phones are available for less than half the price.

Another annoying bug is the faulty behavior of notifications. On some models, alerts from certain apps arrive multiple times in a row—up to ten times with the same message—even after they have already been viewed or dismissed.

What is striking is that the failures occur in Motorola devices that use Android in its versions 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 .

It suggests that the problem lies not in a single operating system update, but in the layer of customization Motorola applies to Android. The most affected models are the G and Edge , even in new models purchased in 2024 or less than six months old.

For now, users can only apply temporary solutions recommended in forums or on social media, such as limiting background processes, disabling certain apps, or performing a factory reset (with caution ). The general recommendation is to wait for an official Motorola update that fixes the bugs.

Another possible solution : search for "Google Play Services" in your apps, tap "App Details," and then tap "Update." A simple restart should get your device working again.

Some users blamed the Threads app, from the Meta group, for the outages. They uninstalled it from their Motorola phones and everything went back to normal.
