Zara celebrates its 50th anniversary by bringing together 50 iconic supermodels.

On May 9, 1975, Amancio Ortega opened the first Zara store on Juan Flórez Street in A Coruña. At that time, Confecciones GOA had been producing clothing for just over a decade—since 1963. The opening of this store marked a turning point in the history of a company that had previously been dedicated to the manufacturing and distribution of textiles.

Under the Zara concept , the company became a fashion retail brand with collections for women, men, and children that would develop and strengthen a philosophy characterized by placing the customer at the center of decision-making, listening carefully to their preferences, and offering quality products at affordable prices.

Through exhaustive and comprehensive analysis of sales and trends across all markets, Zara extracts knowledge that is transferred to its collections through its more than 300 designers and its entire sales team. This creative effort is further enriched through collaborations with prestigious designers.

The characteristic Coruña galleries that are part of the city's architectural DNA are now the main feature of this "new store," which will host a temporary intervention to mark the anniversary. This architectural installation houses a unique display of limited-edition pieces and objects created to commemorate Zara's 50th anniversary .

50 iconic models in front of Steven Meisel's lens

Continuing its 50th anniversary celebrations, the brand has brought together 50 iconic models for the first time to celebrate their passion for fashion and creativity, in a shoot captured by Steven Meisel . Meisel's '50 Years, 50 Icons' film is a spectacular collaboration with 50 of the world's top models: a unique celebration of creativity, longevity, and a love of fashion, driven by Marta Ortega Pérez , born out of their long-standing friendship.

These 50 models, gathered for the first time, are captured by Meisel singing Donna Summer's 1977 hit "I Feel Love." Meisel's piece commemorating this historic moment debuts on May 9, 2025, exactly 50 years after the opening of the first Zara store in A Coruña.
