Fugitive arrested in Malaga for attacking a convoy in France, causing the death of two police officers

National Police officers have arrested in Mijas (Málaga) one of the alleged perpetrators of the assault on a convoy in France that took place in May 2024, during which a high-risk prisoner was being transported, resulting in the death of two French officers.
Simultaneously with this arrest, the prisoner known as Mosca was arrested in Romania, who was released during the assault, according to a statement from the National Police.

Following his arrest in Spain, the house where the fugitive was hiding was searched, and two firearms with ammunition, cartridges, frequency inhibitors, telephone devices, “bent” French license plates and a high-end vehicle stolen in France were seized.
The agents confirmed the presence of the fugitive in a luxurious villa that he barely left home.Through the European Network Fugitive Active Search Teams (ENFAST), more than twenty European investigation orders issued by France have been executed.
Investigators detected movements in the Levante area of some of the members of the criminal organisation to which the fugitive belonged and several arrests were made. The investigations allowed them to determine that one of the participants in the assault on the van that was transporting the prisoner, nicknamed Abe , could be hiding in the Malaga town of Mijas.
The investigations led the agents to a luxurious villa where the fugitive could be hiding. Located on top of a hill, it was equipped with important security measures such as high walls, fences, shutters and security doors, as well as a closed circuit video surveillance with volumetric sensors.
The agents confirmed the presence of the fugitive in the villa and that he rarely left the house and took multiple security measures.
After the French authorities issued a European Investigation Order to enter and search the house, an operation was carried out which, given the dangerousness of the fugitive, had to involve the Special Security Operations Group (GOES).

At the same time, in Romania, the escaped prisoner was detected during the assault in the French region of Normandy, so it was agreed to carry out the exploitation of the operation in a correlative manner and once El Mosca was arrested, the entry and search of the house in Mijas was carried out.
During the entry into the chalet, and once the main ringleader who organised the escape in France was arrested, a search was carried out which allowed the seizure of electronic devices, a revolver with ammunition, a shotgun ready to open fire, cartridges and ammunition for various types of weapons, state-of-the-art electronic jammers, “bent” French number plates and a high-end vehicle that had been stolen in France.
The investigation and collaboration with the French National Police is still open for the full clarification of the facts and the arrest of the rest of those involved in the assault.
