Dr. Evangelina Rodríguez Maternal Hospital graduates 21 specialists

The Dra. Evangelina Rodríguez Maternal Hospital (HMDER) graduated 21 new obstetricians and neonatologists in its 44th Graduation of Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialists and 40th Graduation of Neonatology and Neonatal Intensive Care Subspecialists.

The Teaching Department of the Dra. Evangelina Rodríguez Maternal Hospital reported that 13 of the graduates are in obstetrics and gynecology, while eight are in neonatology.

Since the women's hospital began teaching obstetrics and gynecology classes in 1979, 366 obstetricians and gynecologists and 156 neonatologists have been trained there, according to the teaching manager, Dr. Martín Castillo.

The ceremony was led by the Director of Hospitals of the National Health Service (NHS), Dr. Yokasta Lara, who congratulated the graduates and urged them to carry out their work with ethics, vocation, and human commitment.

He also reiterated to the graduates the patience required when treating patients, who often go to the doctor to unload their mental health problems.

Meanwhile, the center's director , Dr. Marcelino Figuereo, highlighted the importance of these medical specialties and the fundamental role they play in strengthening the Dominican health system.

During the ceremony, Dr. Ángel Caputo , former head of the Gynecology Service and co-founder of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency , was honored. He has 61 years of experience in medicine and 54 as a specialist. He has also written about five books on women's well-being.

The recognition plaque was presented to Dr. Caputo by physician Ruddy Guerrero , who highlighted his contributions to medical training and maternal-neonatal care.

Dr. Caputo said several phrases that marked his acceptance speech, including "I was born to be a doctor" and "I was born to teach and I will die teaching," which filled everyone present with pride and admiration .

At this event at the " Women's Hospital ", 44 residents were also promoted to the first, second, third and fourth years.

In addition, the graduates recognized Dr. Marcelino Figuereo , director of the center ; Yunior Pimentel , deputy director; Agustín Díaz, coordinator of the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency; Martín Castillo, head of the Teaching Department ; José Olea, head of residency; Freddy Manuel Novas, director of the Reynaldo Almánzar Maternal Hospital, among others.

Graduates and promoted residents with the highest index also received recognition and medals.

The event took place at the Dominican Fiesta Hotel, where health professionals such as the president of the Dominican Medical Association (CMD), Dr. Waldo Ariel Suero, attended.

As did the Secretary General of the entity , Dr. Luis Peña Núñez , who wished the graduates much success and highlighted the importance of these specialists to Dominican society.
