Bellas Artes celebrates its 80th anniversary with important cultural achievements

The General Directorate of Fine Arts (DGBA) celebrates its 85th anniversary this July 19, at a time of renewed vitality and expansion.

Founded in 1940 , the institution reaffirms itself as an essential pillar of Dominican culture , with a management focused on inclusion, artistic excellence, and decentralized access to the arts.

Under the direction of Marinella Sallent , the institution has been recognized for its institutional transparency and for improving its services to citizens, achievements endorsed by the General Directorate of Ethics and Government Integrity and the Ministry of Public Administration's Commitment Charter.

"The General Directorate of Fine Arts is a source of pride. Not all Latin American countries have a public cultural system that combines academic training with ongoing artistic promotion," said Sallent.

And he added: "I've known about Fine Arts for as long as I can remember. Fine Arts has given meaning to my life ; I think it has fulfilled me and given me a very firm purpose."

• The director and teacher emphasized that, throughout all these years, she has had the opportunity to contribute her part to improving our society . "I feel very fortunate to be the director general now and appreciate the scope and importance of Fine Arts ," said Marinella Sallent .
