"The Great Depression" will bring a message of friendship
" The Great Depression ", an intelligent, darkly humorous and melodramatic comedy that leaves a profound message about the friendship between two women and mental health , leading viewers to intense reflections , will be on stage from Friday 4th to Sunday 13th July at 8:30 pm, in the Ravelo Room of the National Theatre .
This play stars veteran actresses Elvira Taveras and Lumy Lizardo , who, according to Brito, have built a powerful stage chemistry , full of nuance, humor , and emotional truth . "Their generosity and professionalism have elevated the play, bringing the characters to life with a poignant authenticity. Working with them has been a true privilege ."
The actress, director and educator, Indiana Brito, who is in charge of directing this production, expressed that " The Great Depression " speaks to us about resilience , about how two women face their failures, pain and frustrations from very different places, but with a common background: the desire to rebuild themselves.
"Through humor and the conflict between their personalities, the play shows us that, even in the midst of the deepest crises—emotional, existential, or romantic —there is room for connection, forgiveness, and transformation," he emphasized.

Taveras noted that this play requires them to explore complex emotions and situations , and doing so alongside an actress as committed and talented as Lumy has been a true privilege .
"Together we have managed to build a stage dynamic that reflects the intensity, humor , and conflicts of a friendship marked by life and its ups and downs, like that of Marta and Manuela ."
While veteran actress Lumy Lizardo , who will play Marta in The Great Depression , stated that this character has taught her that, above lies , deceit and falsehood, there can also exist in the world loyalty , fidelity and the shoulder of a great friend because not all is lost.
