“The Girls of the Can: The Reunion” reissues its success
The second performance of “ Las chicas del can: el reencuentro ”, nominated for the Soberano Awards as “ Show of the Year ”, was a success in front of a completely full La Fiesta theater at the Jaragua hotel.
The opening show was led by singer Rosaly Rubio and, after finishing her performance, the audience was ready to vibrate for more than two hours with the energy and talent of Las Pioneras (Belkis Concepción, Teresa Domínguez and Isis Rivera), Las Monumentales (Michell Flores, Grissel Báez and Florangel Espinal) and Las Espectaculares (Tueska, Luisanna Grullón, Jameli Martínez and Mabel Peguero).
One of the most moving moments of the night was the “ In memoriam ” segment, led by Desirée Estrella , who, like the first time, paid tribute to the deceased members of the different stages of the group.
- On this occasion, the tribute had two special appearances: Diomary La Mala , whose presence was a surprise until the last moment, and Juliana , who returned to the stage after more than five years of absence due to her commitments in the National Congress.
The event also served as the stage for the live premiere of “ Tú no me entiendes ”, a fresh and modern merengue composed by Rudy Ventura and Henry Jiménez , which fuses urban and pop rhythms without losing the essence of traditional merengue and in which several of the former members of Las Chicas del Can participated.
To close with a flourish, maestro Wilfrido Vargas took the floor through a video to highlight the career and impact of Las Chicas del Can on Dominican music.
He then presented an electrifying rendition of the classic “El africana” , putting the finishing touch to a day full of nostalgia, rhythm and emotion.
