The Edita Forum, which kicks off its tenth edition today in Barcelona, will address issues such as the evolution of books over the next ten years and the role that artificial intelligence should play in the development of the publishing profession.
Organized by the Gremi d'Editors de Catalunya (Catalan Editors' Guild) and in collaboration with the UPF School of Management, the theme this year is "10 years: more and more reading," and some thirty international specialists from different areas of the book world are expected to participate in the sixteen presentations, debates, and roundtables.
Barcelona will host this forum until Wednesday, where the book "Passion for Editing" will be presented.Mathematician and former Portuguese Minister of Education and Culture Nuno Crato will open the forum with a presentation on "Education and Reading" and will speak with Sergio Vila-Sanjuán, co-director of the Edita Forum.
On September 8, 9, and 10, Barcelona will once again host this forum, which, marking its tenth anniversary, will present the book Pasión por edición (Passion for Editing ), a collection of articles from the ten editions held, an "analysis of the decade's major trends."
The question the forum will attempt to answer this year is: What is the vision for the book industry's evolution over the next ten years?

For the president of the Catalan Editors' Association, Patrici Tixis, the topics to be discussed "are a good example of how the book value chain has evolved and how we reach our readers." They will also serve to "understand what is happening in our environment and respond to the demands of our readers."
In addition to Nuno Crato's presentation, two lectures are planned: "The Biosophy of Reading," by Nazareth Castellanos, a graduate in Theoretical Physics and PhD in Neuroscience, and "Books in the Cultural Battles of the 21st Century," by historian José Enrique Ruiz-Domènec. Both will analyze the importance of the sciences and humanities working together and the role of books in cultural battles.
