The Autumn Fair pays tribute to Paco Camino

The Madrid Autumn Fair, which will be held between October 2 and 12 in the Las Ventas square and concludes the current season in the capital, dedicates its lineup to the figure of the bullfighter Paco Camino , who died on July 29 of last year at the age of 83.
Born in the Seville town of Camas on December 14, 1940, and known by the nickname "El Niño Sabio," Camino stood out as a child for his precociousness in bullfighting and for his qualities that would soon make him a recognized figure in bullfighting: his intelligence, courage, power, and ease in performing his tricks.
In his 20 seasons as a bullfighter, he fought more than 1,600 bullfights, performed in the ring at Las Ventas on 51 occasions, cut off 48 ears, and was carried out on shoulders through the Puerta Grande twelve times.
On June 4, 1970, he was the protagonist of one of the most important events in modern bullfighting. He was surrounded by seven bulls in the Charity bullfight at Las Ventas and cut off eight ears.
The Autumn Fair poster brings together several historic photographs from the Botán and Chapestro archives that have been colorized to highlight Paco Camino and a group of fans carrying him on their shoulders.
The bullfighting season consists of four bullfights and two season-long bullfights, plus the major Hispanic Heritage Day event, which will close the season; the morning festival honoring Antonio Chenel Antoñete ; and the traditional Camino hacia Las Ventas bullfight, the finale of the Camino hacia Las Ventas bullfight without picadors.
