Taylor Swift announces her new album, 'The Life of a Showgirl'

Pop megastar Taylor Swift , 35, announced Tuesday that she is releasing a new album, *The Life of a Showgirl *, the twelfth studio album in her meteoric rise. Swift, who has won 14 Grammy Awards, including four for album of the year, broke the news during an episode of the podcast *New Heights* , which stars her boyfriend, American soccer star Travis Kelce, and his brother, Jason.
Swift's official website reports that the album's official release date will be announced at a later date. Pre-orders are available until August 13th: the vinyl version can be purchased on her website for $30 (€26); a CD with a Swift poster for $13; and a cassette version for $20.
In a video posted on social media, Swift appears with her boyfriend participating in the podcast and suddenly pulls out a green briefcase with her initials (TS) written in orange and says: “This is my new album.”
The American artist, born in West Reading, Pennsylvania, whose Eras tour is her first to surpass $1 billion in revenue, releases the album after having recovered the rights to her first six albums in May , following a bitter fight with her former record label, Big Machine, which had sold the catalog in 2019.
Her previous album, titled El departamento de poetas torturados (2024), set a Spotify record with one billion streams in a single week. According to music magazine Billboard , this was "the biggest streaming week for an album." During that same period, she sold 2.6 million albums in the United States.
Specifically, the economic impact that his tours have on the economies of the cities where he performs, with temporary price increases in sectors such as travel, restaurants, hotels, and entertainment, has led some economists to call this phenomenon "Swiftflation," a play on words between his last name and inflation.
