Jenna Ortega Revives the Iconic <i>Sex and the City</i> Newspaper Dress at <i>Hurry Up Tomorrow</i>’s Premiere
Jenna Ortega stepped out in New York City last night wearing one of the most recognizable dresses in pop culture: the newspaper print slip dress by John Galliano for Dior’s fall/winter 2000 collection. Ortega wore the archival piece at the red carpet premiere of Hurry Up Tomorrow, her new film with The Weeknd and Barry Keoghan.
The midi dress first gained widespread attention in 2000 when Sarah Jessica Parker wore it on a Sex and the City episode. Ortega gave the look a modern twist with her accessories, which included a pair of gold heels and a dainty necklace. For beauty, Ortega wore her hair down straight and had on smokey eye makeup.
This isn’t Ortega’s only big fashion moment this month. The star went viral when she attended the Met Gala in a custom Balmain dress made entirely of metal rulers.
Ortega is gearing up for the release of Wednesday’s second season in August. But she’d love to be behind the camera too someday. She told The Weeknd in a V magazine interview that she wants to direct: “I have a script that I’ve known that I was going to make for almost 10 years. It’s weird because it’s something that I thought of when I was younger and when I first started out in this field, and it’s only now that I’m actually starting to take the steps to get it made, which is really interesting.”
