Actress and singer Jennifer Lopez dazzles in the first images of Kiss of the Spider-Woman , her new musical film directed by Bill Condon, in which she plays a fictional movie diva who inhabits the mind of a prisoner. The film, based on the original work by Terrence McNally, with music by John Kander and Fred Ebb, is set in Argentina in 1981 , during the military dictatorship.
In this oppressive context, Valentín ( Diego Luna ), a political prisoner, shares a cell with Molina (Tonatiuh Elizarraraz), a man imprisoned for "public indecency" who escapes reality by recounting the plots of old movies. His favorite, starring the enigmatic Ingrid Luna (Jennifer Lopez), becomes an emotional escape and the basis for an unexpected connection between the two characters.

Lopez embodies the fictional diva of the title: a femme fatale nicknamed "Spider Woman" who seduces and destroys her lovers in a dreamlike universe filled with music and desire. In the trailer, the artist performs " Where You Are ," one of the thirteen musical pieces that underpin this story of love, pain, and resilience.
Critics who have already attended the Sundance screening have called Lopez's performance remarkable. Variety has said that it provides "a welcome escape from the grim world of Argentine prisoners."
The film has been one of the most talked-about films at the Sundance Film Festival and is already emerging as a leading contender for the upcoming awards season. In addition to its powerful dramatic thrust, the film stands out for its ability to combine elements of fantasy, political critique, and homage to Old Hollywood. The film, an adaptation of the celebrated Broadway musical , will hit US theaters on October 10 and promises to be one of the major cinematic events of 2025.
