Finland is focusing on space intelligence capabilities. Satellites with Polish origins will help achieve this.

The Finnish-Polish company Iceye and the Finnish Armed Forces have signed an agreement to purchase a microsatellite constellation (SAR). The purchase also includes technical systems and equipment necessary to develop an autonomous, space-based surveillance system for the armed forces.
The contract, worth approximately EUR 158 million, covers the purchase of satellites and includes provisions for optional extension of the satellites’ life cycle and possible future expansion of the system.
"This agreement demonstrates the trust and shared vision between Iceye and the Finnish Defence Forces. It represents a milestone in moving from intention to commitment, equipping Finland with a sovereign space intelligence capability," says Iceye co-founder and Chief Security Officer Pekka Laurila.
We are proud to be delivering technology that will not only ensure Finland's leadership in this field, but will also create the foundation for a long-term partnership that will strengthen the security of its allies.
Iceye is a Finnish-Polish company that manufactures and operates a microsatellite constellation . It allows for monitoring satellite images from Earth, day and night, in all weather conditions.
Iceye operates in seven countries, and its Satellite Operations Center and research and development laboratory are located in Poland.
The Vinci fund, part of the Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego Group, will invest over PLN 40 million in Iceye. This will allow it to increase its production capacity to meet the global demand for satellite Earth observation systems.
