Thomas and Lisa Müller: New documentary highlights the strain on their marriage

The documentary "Thomas Müller - One of a Kind" also features wife Lisa, who retired from public life at the end of 2024.
Thomas Müller (35) is not just a Munich original - he has been shaping German football like no other for around 15 years now. From March 4th, a new documentary about the player of the record champions and former DFB star will be launched on Amazon Prime entitled "Thomas Müller - One like no other". In addition to his career as a footballer, the Prime original also sheds light on the 35-year-old's private life. His wife Lisa Müller (35), who announced at the end of last year that she wanted to withdraw from public life, also has her say.
In the trailer for the documentary, it becomes clear why she decided to take this step - and how much the dressage rider is struggling with the public attention that came with her husband's fame: "You don't have a private life anymore," her voice can be heard in the clip before Lisa Müller herself can be seen. She then adds: "People rarely leave you alone."
She now takes care of the peace herselfSince December 2024, she has been ensuring the desired peace and quiet herself as best she can: "Ms. Müller does not want to be a public figure, will no longer give interviews or appear in public," a spokesman for the athlete told the "Bild" newspaper at the time.
This was preceded by the deletion of all images on her Instagram profile . Where previously insights into her life, her work as a dressage rider and advertising posts could be found, not a single post can be seen now. However, the account itself still exists and still has 227,000 followers.

Lisa Müller has been in the public eye since her marriage to Thomas Müller in 2009. She not only supported her husband in the stadium at FC Bayern or national team games, but also often appeared with him at events. However, Müller, who is herself very successful in equestrian sports, never liked the term "player's wife". "I am not an appendage or his handbag," she emphasized to RTL in October .
