Museumsuferfest Frankfurt 2025: All highlights at a glance

The countdown has begun: From August 29 to 31, 2025, the heart of Frankfurt will once again beat to the rhythm of the Museumsuferfest. This weekend, the banks of the Main River will be transformed into a vibrant promenade. Whether you want to be inspired by top-class art, dance to thrilling live acts, or simply enjoy the unique atmosphere – the Museumsuferfest has something for everyone. A look at the jam-packed program reveals the diverse highlights.
A city looks back and celebrates the futureThis year, the festival delves deep into the city's history and celebrates two significant anniversaries that continue to shape Frankfurt today. Under the motto "100 Years of New Frankfurt," the visionary urban development program of the 1920s, which combined functional and affordable housing with modern design, is commemorated.

Numerous museums bring this heritage to life. The German Architecture Museum (DAM), the Museum of Applied Arts, and the Historical Museum are dedicating exciting exhibitions and events to this milestone in modern urban planning. At the same time, the city is celebrating "100 Years of Hilmar Hoffmann ," the spiritual father of the Museum Embankment. It is thanks to his vision of "Culture for All" that the Main River promenade has become a cultural landscape unique in Europe. You can learn more about his work on free city tours that explore his impressive legacy.
The soundtrack of the city: A weekend full of musicThe heart of the festival beats to the rhythm of the music that resounds from countless stages along the banks of the Main. The musical spectrum is as diverse as the city itself. A central focal point is the Frankfurt x Binding x Eintracht stage. Mayor Mike Josef will officially open the festival here at 6 p.m. on Friday, followed by party nights and a colorful Eintracht program on Saturday.
For lovers of rockier sounds, the two Feinstaub stages are just the thing. With 42 bands, they're practically turning into a small alternative and punk rock festival. Meanwhile, fans of electronic music can be captivated by the WE LOVE FRANKFURT stage, which promises a true open-air clubbing experience against the breathtaking skyline with DJs from the region's hottest clubs.
Even distant sounds have their place and take you on a musical journey around the world: fiery rhythms can be found on the Latino Treff and Son Taino stages, exotic flair at the MainThailandFest, and southern melodies on the Spain on the Main stage.
Culinary journey around the world
The culinary offerings are as international as the stages: Food stalls line the Main promenade, serving specialties from all over the world. The menu ranges from Hessian classics like Handkäs mit Musik (traditional cheese with music) and Grüne Soße (green sauce) to Mediterranean dishes and exotic street food. Those seeking a more sophisticated experience should visit the Rhineland-Palatinate Wine Stage, where exquisite wines and musical accompaniment are available.
Between dragon boats and firework magic
But the Museum Embankment Festival wouldn't be complete without the many experiences to be discovered beyond the stages and exhibitions. An undisputed highlight is the grand musical fireworks display, which transforms the sky above the Main River into a colorful sea of lights at 10 p.m. on Sunday evening, providing goosebumps-inducing moments.
During the day, the attention is on the water, as teams paddle to the beat of the drums in the traditional dragon boat race for victory, creating a thrilling sporting experience.

Families will find their happiness on the Mainkai, where the Riederwald adventure playground , with bouncy castles, a roller slide, and face painting, creates an oasis for the youngest festival-goers. The Junges Museum Frankfurt invites participants to hands-on workshops, and many museums offer rallies, creative programs, and special tours for young visitors. Those seeking a quieter experience can embark on their own journey of discovery among old books and rare prints on the Antiquarian Bookstore Mile in front of the Giersch Museum.
